On a Wednesday afternoon the practice is open for specialized clinics only, and not for GP surgery appointments.
During this time, any telephone calls to the practice will be answered by our out of hours service provider, South Doc Services Limited. South Doc also answer any calls between 8.00 - 8.30 a.m. weekdays, 12.30 - 1.30 p.m. weekdays and 6.00 - 6.30 p.m. weekdays.
At other times when the practice is closed Badger Medical Services Limited are the Out of Hours services provider for the Practice.
On Thursday afternoons the practice is open to collect prescriptions and make appointments for future date and not for GP surgery appointments.
The practice is part of Birmingham Smartcare Federation, who will be providing Extended Hours appointments in the evenings and at weekends.
Appointments may be booked for a GP, a Nurse or a Health Care Assistant for the following days, which include Bank holidays:-
Monday to Friday between 18.30 and 20.00
Saturday between 09.00 and 18.00
Sunday between 10.00 and 13.00
The appointments are held at the Oakwood Surgery, 856 Stratford Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, B11 4BW

In case of serious illness, there is always a doctor on duty. A telephone answering service may intercept your call and give you the number of the duty doctor.
The main out of hours service for the practice is supplied by Badger Medical Services Limited. Badger Medical Services may pick up your calls via the NHS 111 service. You may be asked to attend a primary care centre when the surgery is closed.

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS 111 to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
